Applies separate screen zoom and DPI presets for the cover and inner displays of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold devices
ZFold Multi DPI
An Android utility for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold devices that applies separate Screen Zoom / DPI presets for the cover and inner displays.

What it does
- Stores a DPI preset for each stable fold posture.
- Detects the hinge state locally.
- Applies the selected DPI through WindowManager after a one-time Shizuku-assisted secure-settings grant.
- Runs automatic switching as a visible foreground service and can restore it after reboot when enabled.
Setup
Install the latest APK from Releases.
One time
Install Shizuku (thedjchi).
- Enable Wireless debugging in Android Developer options.
- Open Shizuku.
- Start Shizuku via Wireless debugging.
- Open Authorized Applications and enable ZFold Multi DPI.
- Open ZFold Multi DPI.
- Set DPI values for the inner and outer screens.
- Tap Grant secure-settings access. This is needed only once.
- Tap Apply Preset Settings.
- Tap Start automatic DPI switching.
Shizuku is only required for the initial permission grant. Automatic switching uses the retained WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission afterward.
Notes
- The monitor uses a foreground-service notification while enabled, as required by Android.
- Set battery usage to Unrestricted for best reliability on Samsung devices.
- Density changes can make the UI difficult to use; begin with values close to Samsung's defaults.
How Shizuku is used
Can apply separate cover and inner display densities and auto switch on folding via `pm grant` through Shizuku.
This is an AI-assisted analysis of Shizuku-related usages in the app's public source code. It is best effort, so it may not catch every single usage.
How this app uses Shizuku
Shizuku is used once to unlock system display control, which the app then uses for manual and automatic Fold screen zoom.
- Apply separate display densities: save different DPI values for the cover and inner screens and apply the one matching the current fold state with the same system operation used by the
wm densitycommand, enabled by the Shizuku grant. - Auto switch density on fold: keep automatic switching running to watch the hinge posture and apply the saved cover DPI when folded or the inner DPI when unfolded after a short stable pause.
Android APIs or commands used
pm grantandroid.view.IWindowManager.setForcedDisplayDensityForUser
Notable details
Shizuku is only needed for the one time secure settings grant, which is restricted to the app itself. After that, manual applies and automatic fold switching use a direct system call and continue without Shizuku.
