More about this app
Records Bluetooth HCI traffic into Wireshark-compatible PCAPNG files on-device using Shizuku.
Nobita
Record Bluetooth communication from your phone
Nobita is an Android application for recording Bluetooth communication directly from an Android device, using Shizuku instead of requiring a computer.
Capture workflow
- Start Shizuku through ADB or Wireless Debugging and authorize Nobita.
- Select a paired/nearby device, or enter its MAC address or name.
- Choose a folder for capture files during onboarding.
- Tap Start capture, use the other Bluetooth application, then tap Stop & finalize.
- Nobita creates a Wireshark-compatible PCAPNG directly in the selected folder.
The capture is a live, local stream from Android's btsnoop_net endpoint at 127.0.0.1:8872. Enable both Bluetooth HCI snoop logging and its socket in Developer options before starting; Nobita does not change Bluetooth settings or restart the stack. Device filtering is applied only during finalization using Bluetooth connection handles; a raw BTSnoop copy can optionally be retained. Temporary and final files remain in the selected folder. Captures contain sensitive payloads and are never uploaded automatically.
The endpoint is firmware-dependent and supports one live client. Devices without a compatible listener are reported as unsupported before capture begins. Samsung Android 14 has been verified with bidirectional traffic; other firmware must be validated independently. The current implementation targets Android 12+ behavior and requires a working Shizuku UserService.
Why Nobita?
Because he has a crush on Shizuku. And Bluetooth contained in its name.
Yeah, a bad joke.
How Shizuku is used
Can record Bluetooth HCI traffic into Wireshark-compatible files via `btsnoop_net` and `getprop` through Shizuku.
This is an AI-assisted analysis of Shizuku-related usages in the app's public source code. It is best effort, so it may not catch every single usage.
How this app uses Shizuku
Shizuku is used to run the Bluetooth capture with shell privileges and turn the raw stream into shareable files.
- Record Bluetooth traffic: starts a live capture from the system Bluetooth snoop stream through Shizuku, checking the current log mode with the
getprop persist.bluetooth.btsnooplogmodeshell command. - Stop and export capture: stops the live capture and creates a Wireshark-compatible PCAPNG file filtered to the device target the user entered, with an option to also keep the raw capture.
- Recover full capture: recovers an interrupted or unmatched capture through Shizuku and exports the complete unfiltered PCAPNG file.
