- Build System: Android Gradle Plugin 8.13.2
- SDK: Compile/Target SDK 36
- NDK: Version 29
- Min SDK: 24 (Android 7.0+)
Building
- Ensure Android SDK platform 36 and build tools plus NDK 29 are installed and configured in
ANDROID_HOME/ANDROID_SDK_ROOT. - Make the wrapper executable if needed:
chmod +x ./gradlew. - Build the app:
./gradlew assembleDebug.
Note: AGP 8.13.2 and SDK 36 may not be available in standard repos; if the build fails resolving them, adjust to available versions.
๐ฑ Requirements
MKM requires elevated system access via one of the following methods:
| Method | Requirements | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Shizuku | Android 11+ (wireless debugging) or Root | Recommended for non-root users |
| Root | Magisk, KernelSU, or other root solution | Full access without additional apps |
| Sui | Magisk module | Auto-detected with Shizuku API |
Setting Up Shizuku (Non-Root)
- Install Shizuku from GitHub or Play Store
- Follow the in-app setup guide (wireless debugging on Android 11+)
- Grant MKM permission when prompted

How Shizuku is used
Can tune CPU, GPU, memory and thermals, manage swap and reset battery stats via `sh` shell commands.
This is an AI-assisted analysis of Shizuku-related usages in the app's public source code. It is best effort, so it may not catch every single usage.
How this app uses Shizuku
Shizuku is used to run privileged shell commands for kernel tuning and system monitoring.
- Tune CPU performance: change CPU governors and minimum or maximum frequencies chosen in the app by writing the selected values to kernel scaling controls through Shizuku.
- Tune graphics performance: change GPU governor and frequency settings selected in the app through Shizuku shell commands.
- Tune memory and storage: change memory controller and storage controller governors and frequencies selected in the app through Shizuku shell commands.
- Manage swap files: create and enable swap files of a chosen size and path, then disable or delete them, using
swapon, swapoff, mkswapand loop device setup through Shizuku. - Monitor system status: read CPU, GPU, memory, power, voltage, battery, thermal zone, swap and storage controller status by reading system files and running status queries through Shizuku.
- Control thermal limits: apply a chosen temperature limit to thermal trip points and configuration, restart thermal services, or stop thermal throttling services through Shizuku.
- Reset battery statistics: reset system battery stats with the
dumpsys batterystats --resetshell command through Shizuku for fresh usage analysis. - Run hardware benchmarks: run the built in CPU and GPU benchmark workloads and read their results through Shizuku.
- Reapply settings on boot: automatically reapply saved CPU, GPU, memory and storage tuning after a reboot through Shizuku.

Changelog
What's new for version 1.7
Release 1.7
Version 1.7 (June 2026)
Home & Navigation
- Added a Quick Access grid on the Home page for one-tap navigation to CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, Power, Battery, Overlay, and Settings.
- Locked items show a lock badge and require root or Shizuku access.
Overlay
- Added overlay appearance options to show absolute values (GB / MHz) for CPU, GPU, RAM, and SWAP with per-metric toggles.
- Added an overlay CPU Frequency display mode: All Cores, Average, or Max Frequency.
- Added an overlay accent color option to tint the background, with a separate background color picker.
- Fixed overlay state going stale after a force close; the overlay now auto-resumes on app start if it was enabled.
Settings
- Added a Discord community card in Settings to join MKM users and developers.
Device Support
- Improved GPU frequency handling on Adreno / Turnip devices: shows N/A and a "root needed" hint when the kernel blocks shell access.
UI Polish
- Changed the RAM icon to a more representative memory module glyph.
