Carrier Vanity Name
Carrier Vanity Name is a very simple app to change the carrier names on unrooted Android devices.
The changed names will persist through reboots. To revert them back, click the reset button in the app.
The app can also override the ISO country code of your SIM card. This can be useful to spoof your location to some region-locked apps like the Pixel Thermometer.
The app uses Shizuku to achieve this using carrier config overrides. This method was inspired by Kyujin Cho's pixel-volte-patch, which uses the same method to enable VoLTE on some Google Pixel and LG devices.
WARNING: Anything using Shizuku might potentially cause harm to your device (and the data on it). I'm not responsible for any damage that might be caused by this app. You have been warned.
How Shizuku is used
Can set custom carrier names and SIM country codes via `ICarrierConfigLoader.overrideConfig` through Shizuku.
This is an AI-assisted analysis of Shizuku-related usages in the app's public source code. It is best effort, so it may not catch every single usage.
How this app uses Shizuku
Shizuku is used to apply custom carrier display names and related carrier settings that normal apps cannot change.
- Set custom carrier name: type a name and apply it to the selected mobile network through the privileged carrier settings service via Shizuku.
- Set SIM country code: enter a two letter region code alongside the name to override the SIM country value through the same privileged service via Shizuku.
- Reset carrier name: clear the custom name and restore the normal carrier display through the privileged carrier settings service via Shizuku.
