More about this app
A simple app that shows battery status information on Android 14 and later.
Batt
A simple app that shows battery status information on Android devices. Requires Android 14.
Featured by Mishaal Rahman, Android Central, GSMArena and Android Authority.

What Batt displays
By default, it shows:
- the number of charge cycles
- the charge status
However, with some setup, it can also show:
- the battery health
- the battery manufacturing date
- the battery first use date
For this to work, either use Shizuku (instructions can be found in the app) or the following ADB command:
adb shell pm grant com.porg.batt android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
Technical
The app is built using the traditional View-based system and Material 3 components. To get the BATTERY_STATS permission it uses the Shizuku API.
Make sure to use Android Studio Giraffe or later.
License
Batt is licensed under the GNU GPL, version 3.

How Shizuku is used
Can unlock extra battery health and date info via `IPackageManager.grantRuntimePermission` through Shizuku.
This is an AI-assisted analysis of Shizuku-related usages in the app's public source code. It is best effort, so it may not catch every single usage.
How this app uses Shizuku
Batt uses Shizuku for a single privileged operation that unlocks extra battery information.
- Unlock extra battery details: after tapping the permission button, the app gives itself system battery stats access through Shizuku, which reveals battery health, manufacturing date, first use date and charging policy alongside the normally visible cycle count.
Android APIs or commands used
IPackageManager.grantRuntimePermission
Notable details
The basic cycle count display works without Shizuku. Shizuku is only needed to reveal the extra health, date and charging policy cards.
Changelog
What's new for version 1.3
Note
If you downloaded Batt from GitLab you must delete older versions of Batt to install 1.3. Users downloading from IzzyOnDroid are unaffected.
Compatibility warning
If your device is incompatible (see #8), you will now see a warning:
This warning will be shown on devices that are known to not be compatible, namely:
- Pixel 4a (5G), 5 and 5a,
- the Android emulator,
- Xiaomi devices,
- Samsung devices running One UI 6.x.
The warning can be dismissed in case Batt starts working on these devices after software updates.
Minor changes
- Batt now supports Sui. (https://gitlab.com/narektor/batt/-/commit/a91c938ab49c390fb7c22ecb3b49f1dcf8933b30, closes #1 and #10)
- The battery health progress bar's color now matches the icon above it. (https://gitlab.com/narektor/batt/-/commit/b6a34a97b9733d136b9b89fb99ece9fb4c144bfa)
- The button in the "Can't find something" card has been removed to make Batt easier to use. Now, incorrect data can be shown by tapping the card itself. (https://gitlab.com/narektor/batt/-/commit/abd36e1196fa10f6025b3abbdb2f8ba2eb197b9b)
- Batt can no longer be installed on Android 13.
Also, starting from this release, Batt is moving towards reproducible builds.
